Fun school project

Working with the art company Rojo Art (www.rojoart.co.uk ) school children from the Guildhall Feoffment Primary School have made their own recycled Christmas tree as part of a school recycling awareness week.  The tree is made from over 500 carrier bags, 100 plastic bottles and tin cans collected by the pupils over a week.  The tree is now entered into the Christmas Waste Wonderland competition run by the County Council (www.suffolkcc.gov.uk ) and a local radio station SGR FM (www.sgrfm.com ). The tree is made to prove that there is no need to cut down living trees for the sake of Christmas and that if you do want a tree, buy one that is growing in a pot for many more Christmases to come.  They also learnt that during the Christmas period the average person throws away 50 kg of wrapping and packaging so they looked at ways of cutting down on that too.  The whole school is delighted with the fantastic tree that, at the end of the season, will be stripped down and recycled.
